SMALL FORMS OF PLAY FOR THE BIG PERFORMANCE

The theatre is a world with its own laws. Playwrights encounter questions about group dynamics, motivation and dramaturgy. How do you start a creative game? How do you find access to roles? How do dialogues come alive?

The theatre pedagogue and director Martin Frank draws his teaching material from thirty years of experience in permanent engagements at municipal theatres with more than sixty productions in opera and drama with young people and professionals. Since 1996 he has directed the Young House at the Theater Basel. His well-thought-out collection of exercises makes it easy to get started and provides numerous instructions, forms of performance and tips, supplemented by a unique catalogue of exercise sequences on the way to the premiere.
